Painted Scars
by Neva Altaj
I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I liked it. But I felt like I was constantly waiting for something major to happen and it didn't. Now I will say this book is different from any Mafia romance book I have read, which isn't a lot. But romance in general usually surrounds two perfect and the most beautiful people. However this book showed the beauty of being perfectly imperfect. And that's why I couldn't hate the book, and looking forward to reading the others.
Overall this book is lukewarm to me. We on multiple occasions would get all this build up, only to be faced with a dim resolution. For example when Nina is attacked while out shopping, we already knew she was okay by the time we get to Roman's pov so it just seemed pointless to even see his reactions. Maybe those two sections should have been swapped. Also she got a small glass cut, I literally rolled my eyes during the hospital scene. Someone could have at least gotten shot or grazed by a bullet
