It’s kind of incredible how much I disliked the story in the Awakening versus how much I loved it from the Heirs’ POV in this book. I still don’t think I like bully romance by any stretch, but reading the Heirs’ motivations, pressures, internal conflict, and heartbreak over their actions makes me more understanding. And the last chapter with Darius? Heartbreaking. The technical writing is bad (as always), but the sisters write such gripping stories that they’ve turned me into a begrudging simp.
