To be honest, this book put me in a mini slump. The plot progressed slowly once again, and quite a few of the storylines frustrated me. The perspective constantly changing was also jarring and ruined the flow of the story (e.g. Chapter 12). Basically, loving the characters wasn't enough to keep me interested.

How was there a resurgence of a group like Valentine's Circle? After all that happened, they still didn't learn? The Cohort were just a bunch of racists. Zara was an especially disgusting bully and I hated it every time she was on the page. I despised this storyline and it ruined the book for me.

Emma was misguided and Julian deserved better, especially since he was very clever and a great father figure to the Blackthorn children. Dru was very naïve, but I understood why she felt the way she did. She was too trusting of Jaime though. I loved Livvy and Ty and Kit's group too. Livvy's death was so unnecessary and I am not looking forward to Ty's reaction in the next book.

Arthur's end was heartbreaking. I was glad he came through in the end but his whole life was so sad. Also, Annabel deserved better. The Blackthorns were really done dirty over the years. I felt bad for Malcolm but he took a very bad path and continued to torment Annabel in his own way.

I was glad Diego messed up because it allowed Cristina and Mark to progress their relationship. I also loved that Mark when back for Kieran. Additionally, it was nice seeing Jace and Clary around, but it was even better seeing Magnus, Alec, and the kids.

Overall, this book frustrated me and bored me. I loved the characters but hated the plot.
