I read Penny Reid's Winston Brothers series first and then circled back to this book; I can definitely see the growth she made after writing this.  I found Janie to be very frustrating and annoying as a protagonist.  I didn't mind her inability to shut down her verbal diarrhea when she gets flustered, but what I did mind was her propensity for literally running away from conversations and refusing to tell Quinn what was going on, while berating the lack of communication trope common to romance novels.  Finally, finally, she breaks down and tells Quinn that she's afraid and that's why she reacts the way she does, but it happens way later in the book than it should and it made me want to throttle her.
