This…. was a journey. It took me nine months via audiobook to finish this book, although the last 30% of that was a single day. Up until today, I was ready to give it 2 stars, but now that I’m done, I’ll put it at 3.5 stars. It’s akin to Hunger Games if the characters were all from District 1 and 2. It is more gruesome and science fiction with a Lord of the Flies tone that was off-putting to me… although I can’t deny that this is ultimately a well crafted story. For all the hype this series receives, despite how long it took me to get through the audiobook, I’m considering reading the next book in the series…. we’ll see.
