This was my first ever Mary Stewart. I think I was in fifth grade and I was at the library with my mom when she suggested it. It was love right away! Mary Stewart's descriptions of the locations she sets her stories in are absolutely magical. I feel almost as if I have been to Crete and that I have some vague fuzzy memories about the beauty of it, the summer heat, and the sounds of the insects and wildlife. Anyways, The Moonspinners will always hold a very special place in my heart. Hopefully one day I will get to fill the spot next to it with actual memories from visiting Crete.
