Legends From River And Mountain by Alma Strettell, Carmen Sylva

3.0

Carmen Sylva was the pen name of the queen of Romania, Elizabeth of Wied. These are stories she compiled from Transylvania and the area where she grew up in the Rhineland in Germany. I thought the Romanian tales were far more interesting than the German ones - plenty of strong heroines and out of the ordinary situations. Unfortunately these tales only made up half of the book. Still, this is worth downloading from Project Gutenberg if you enjoy folklore and fairy tales.
