If he killed Leo, I would have given it a 5 star no question. This author is one of the more consistent ones with their style of writing and how he portrays things. He portrays relationships in a more realistic light. It's not all-consuming like a lot of other ones are. The characters had plot armor but its an early high school type book, I'll forgive it. Percy is consistent, he's traumatized, sometimes humorous and regular old Percy with trauma. Annabeth is the same thing, she is still the same character but with PTSD. These are character traits that I feel are all within reason. Leo never stopped being Leo though his relationship with Cleopto is kind of weird this is also Greek Mythology so who am I to complain? Piper and Jason, I am glad he didn't make Piper super stereotypical and really built the relationship she has with Jason. Jason was fine, I wasn't the biggest fan of him, to begin with. Nico is dark and tortured and I love that. I love how dark he is and I am really glad people around him accept it. These are supposed to be powerful children that can be evil or good and to see a grey like Nico really warms the soul. Though, I felt Nico didn't owe anything to Percy about his crush. He had one and he didn't have to tell Percy, I felt like he didn't have to say it but I guess I didn't need to move on from that crush and he did. I agree with all of them when they said that why can't the gods just fix it? Because like ugh! That's more on the universe that this lives in. Racheal? Or that R chick. She didn't get much of an arch. I'm okay with that though, her story development can be done in another book. Coach, hilarious as ever. Frank, he's a gentle giant in my head. I liked him. Adorable Son-of-Ares guy. Hazel, she was the same. Frank and she didn't really change and all their development was done at a previous book so its forgiven. Though upset that they didn't fight more with Leo.
