Laws of Depravity: A Martyr Maker Novel by Eriq La Salle, Eriq La Salle

3.5

I enjoyed that the author serves as the narrator of this book.

the plot and the detectives were  compelling.

but, I was disappointed by the portrayal and treatment of LGBTQIA+ characters, even though I understand that law enforcement doesn't always prioritize these cases. Some parts of the book were difficult to get through because of this. Despite that, I appreciate the complexity and detailed backgrounds of the characters. I'm planning to read the other two books in this series to see how it concludes. The ending, involving the detective's brother, left me stunned.
