Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich

Giraffe? In New Jersey? Running free? This seems that it would grab someone's attention, but it doesn't. No one seems to know anything about it, which has Stephanie and Lulu starting to doubt their sanity. I know this doesn't seem like the usual lead in to a review about a Stephanie Plum book, but when you read the book, you'll understand. Stephanie still isn't getting much better at her job, but this time she has a really good excuse: someone is trying to stop her from being able to do her job and from living, in general. This time it gets a little extreme - like getting thrown off a bridge. Thank goodness that between Ranger and Morelli, they are able to keep Stephanie alive. However, Grandma Bella is doing her part again to make sure that Stephanie can't relax and starts to get a little paranoid. Here's a little interesting tidbit - Stephanie decides that maybe she isn't cut out to be a bounty hunter and decides to try her hand at working for a butcher. Yeah, you can guess how that goes...or maybe you can't, because I didn't see that part coming. Some good surprises in this one.
