I'm starting to get this repeat in Klepas novels where the deception is taken just too far. Or the last minute confrontations are literally last minute or second.

The boat is going to leave, the person is going to be hanged, etc... and I don't really like it. Other than that, this was really a nice romance/love story of two people that really know one another. They are cruelly separated and then the miscommunication (it seems that this is always on the part of the woman keeping something from the man in Klepas' books and I have to say I think it more likely to go the other way. It makes her heroines seems less than trustworthy. Relationships need trust.) puts the two characters at odds with one another. The reason it ended up being very good is because the fear would be real for Aline and the anger valid for McKenna. Still I felt the deception/holding back information was taken, idiotically, too far. My star off.
