I thought we were going to get a cutesy little love story about the lovable golden retriever boy who finally gets with his childhood bestie, maybe sprinkle in a little neurodiversity love with his dyslexia. Chloe cackled in my face. This was so heartbreaking for Gibsie, I cried and cried. I wish he got to tell his won story though. I know Claire was defending him but I wish he had trusted her to tell her first, that would have been more impactful for their relationship to me. I also felt like this was too focused on setting up Lizzie’s story for the next book. Each of the previous books have given a little hook for the next book but this book felt laden down with signals for Releasing 10. Let Gibsie and Claire be the focus!
