Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor

And now I have finally, finally finished this last book in the series. How do I feel? Mostly relieved that I can move on. I`ve thought a lot about this, why it nearly felt like a chore, reading this book and also the one before.
I think, I just wanted something different. At this point I can certainly not say „I expected something different“ - let`s be honest, after roughly half of the book one can know how this will end - but I am still so much in love with the story of the first book, of the first two thirds; Karou in Prague, dealing with Brimstone, dealing with her art, her friends… I enjoyed that part of the s Tory so much and desperately wanted to know more about her.

So I guess i just had unfitting expectations.

Aside from those, there certainly are some other issues. Some issues with my patience. Some issues with „I LOVE HIM / can not love him / hate him / love him / wait I don`t really know this man / wait we really have only spent the better of two months together / HATE / LOVE“ and so on.
I also do not understand why we needed another apocalypse scenario at the end of this book - is there another series coming? Have I missed something? If not, then why would I care? It took such a turn for the unnecessary at the end, I was trying to really read each paragraph and not just skip over the next iteration of „the world will END because you dared to HOPE“, only to be quickly resolved by „the world has to be SAVED so SPLIT UP and do it“.
The end felt rushed, the end felt forced; as if the author wanted to keep a door open to come back to this story in the future, write a spinoff maybe, who knows.

To put it all together: this isn`t a bad book. It`s a book and a series that you will like if you have a thing for angels, for beasts (instead of faeries as we all do these days), but it really asks you to not question to much of the storyline in order for you to enjoy it. I am certainly happy I`ve finally finished this series; i read the first part while i was in school, and now I have finished it and my soul can live on a little island that i was allowed to claim for some reason that I do not fully understand.
