I love books that balance so many ideas with deft skill. Questions of what it means to be human, a woman, part of a family, abused, alien, loved, lied to, manipulated, brainwashed. More. Tesh writes about what it is to know you were shaped by something terrible, and that the terrible thing has built instincts inside you, and to fight for better against those instincts anyway. It's raw and invigorating to read, and makes me want to read more about Kyr, Yiso, and the rest.
