Forbidden Hearts
by Corinne Michaels
When Phoebe returns early from her semester of grad school, no one really knows why. She is hurt and humiliated, but will not share with her father or anyone else why. She has always felt like people misjudged her for things she has done in her past, but her heart is with hearing impaired people in the area she grew up in, and her audiology degree will give her the ability to do this. She has to find a new program to accept her because he can’t go back to the school she was at. She was taken advantage of by one of her professors and humiliated.
Asher is a single father who is co-parenting his daughter with her mother. They were never together as a couple, they were never an item, but when she got pregnant, he stepped up and became the father Olivia needed. When Sara gets a career chance that she cannot pass up, Asher has Olivia for nearly 6 months on his own. When her nanny, who has been with her since birth, leaves to get married, and the agency can’t find someone with ASL skills that can communicate with Olivia effectively, Asher is left looking for someone to help him care for her while he’s working. Phoebe knows ASL, but Asher remembers her as the flighty teen who, when she last babysat Olivia, allowed her to cut her own hair.. and he’s never forgotten it. When his boss, who is Phoebe’s father, recommends her to help him until he can find a nanny, he balks…. Then decides to give it a try.
This is where the fun begins… and there’s so much more to the story. You will discover who Phoebe really is, who Asher really is.. and you’re going to fall in love with Olivia. I absolutely loved this book, and read it in one day.. it’s so good I didn’t want to put it down. It’s a true joy to read. If you like hometown, down-to-earth, reality based characters and a storyline that is real and raw, you’ll love Corrine Michaels as a whole.. but this book is something special. I recommend this with every single part of my heart.
