The Will to Improve: Governmentality, Development, and the Practice of Politics by Tania Murray Li

challenging informative reflective slow-paced

4.25

A very interesting read, charting the clash between local livelihoods and national politics at the peak of Transmigrasi and the New Order. Really enjoyed the narrative that Li interweaves with her analysis, and the depth of insight she offers into the impacts of government policies on the lives of rural Indonesians.
