Things We Didn't Talk about When I Was a Girl by Jeannie Vanasco
5.0
This is a challenging book to read with a definite need for trigger warnings. It took me an entire bottle of wine (over 2 nights) and a lot of breaks to get through. But I’m so glad I did. This memoir is written in unique form, alternating between narrative and actual transcripts, and it is honest to a fault. The courage the author had to confront the man who sexually assaulted her is immense and deserves all the respect in the world. As she struggles to reconcile what happened to her with the friendship she once had with her molester readers are forced to think about what rape really is, how much in life is forgivable, and whether a good person can commit a horrendous action.
