Here is a writer, an artist, who knows how to tell a story with insight, grace and not leave the reader exhausted. The writing is poietic, visual and efficient. Nothing is overwrought here. There is suspense, knowledge and a compelling story of good realistic people. I am a new fan of this writer. She smartly weaves history, botany and human tendencies in a wonderful book.
