The Newspaper Nanny by Maren Moore
5.0

Maren Moore continues to charm! The Newspaper Nanny sparkles with rom-com magic- endearing characters, captivating chemistry, electric sexual tension, heartwarming feels, and laugh out loud moments. Epically swoony and deliciously adorable, this is everything you want in a feel-good story!

MM sure knows how to write a delicious dad! Liam may be a little rigid at first, but this man is a bit old adorable softie. The quintessential dreamy single dad-he’s scrumptious. From the first few pages where we see Liam interacting with his two scene-stealing daughters, Maren infuses him with a palpable sincerity and tenderness. He’s protective and particular- but with good reason. His stoic focus in his profession and parenting comes from a heart-melting devotion to his girls. A devotion that inspires him to seek out a nanny now that he’s starting a career as an NHL coach so that his girls can have as much home stability as possible. And an old school classified ad brings him the endearing Juliet.

As far as heroines go, Juliet is just a doll. Like Liam, she’s made sacrifices for her family- including her sassy (and also scene-stealing) Nana, and she’s struggling to make ends meet without also sacrificing her long term aspirations. The nanny gig is the perfect nexus of her financial needs and her career pathway- until she realizes it would be for prickly Liam, and SURPISE- these two already had a meet-cute. Instant attraction, but LOADS of complications. But Juliet delights- she’s patient and loving, even when Liam’s hot-cold attitude perplexes her. She’s a heroine that is both relatable and admirable- smart, hard-working, and resilient. Like Liam, you can’t help but fall for her- and Maren makes us root for them to topple the barriers keeping them from exploring their attraction.

Maren keeps the story pretty light- we have a smidge of drama and a bunch of “will they- won’t they” tension, but for the most part these two fall into each other easily and are as charmed by each other as we are by them. The chemistry is sweet and sexy- with just enough emotional connection for their longing to feel substantial. And Maren hits all the right notes you’d want in a light-hearted, lower angst swooner- a story loaded with charisma and charm. This book is a total heart melter- your face will hurt from all the smiling.

And that epilogue?! Squishy heart magic! I can’t wait for more from this Maren world- bring on the Puck Bunny. And WE NEED REED!
