Ahh.. my childhood companion. This was one of the first books I ever read, and it remains one of my nostalgic faves. Edith Hamilton does an excellent job covering the basics in a clear and concise style of prose. For anyone studying literature or writing creatively, this is an essential book; it covers many of the myths referenced throughout western literature and central to the western collective unconscious. Definitely good to have on hand as a reference book, and also an enjoyable read as a standalone work.
