I listened to the audiobook during an 8-hour trip, and honestly, it’s one of the best mystery/thrillers I’ve come across so far. It’s smart, really engaging, and refreshingly free of the cheesy contemporary dialogue or lazy writing that often drag this genre down. What really sets it apart is that, unlike most mystery/thrillers, where almost 80% of the story is usually a slow buildup to a final twist right before the end, with little to nothing happening for most of the book, this one keeps delivering. New leads and secrets unfold steadily with each chapter. Every few chapters bring fresh revelations about the multiple intertwined cases and the complex lives of the characters, right up to the final twists and reveals. Definitely a fun and satisfying read, I’d happily recommend it.
