i didnt love the turn the story took with the root of all evil peoples actions actually being the evil god, just felt redundant, and makes the interesting political intrigue from the first book null and void. i also felt like the characterization was across the board inconsistent with everyone. Ning is the main character because the story is happening to her, yet she seems to have no agency at all and is simply a vessel. pacing felt like it dragged but also feels like almost nothing happened? i did enjoy the unique magic system, and immersive world
