I'm the Man: The Story of That Guy from Anthrax
by Scott Ian
I've never been an Anthrax fan. I like a couple of their songs, but really could never get over Joey Belladona's vocals. They just sounded like regular rock and at the time I was into really heavy stuff. I never saw them live, though I did go to one of their concerts to see Death Angel and Testament, then I left. Still seems kind of strange that I didn't stay for at least a couple songs. Must have been tired or hungry or something.
Anyway, I like them more now. What a cool, hilarious guy Scott Ian is. Great stories in this, many I hadn't heard before and many that were going on when I was a full on metalhead playing in thrash and punk bands in Detroit. It's kinda sad how much Anthrax got screwed by record labels, but they still ended up as one of the "Big 4" so you can't ask for much more than that, and I think that is kinda what he was trying to say.
