Earth & Ember by John F.D. Taff

5.0

John F.D. Taff concludes his EPIC horror series with The Fearing: Earth and Ember. The world is seemingly at the end as a vast darkness slowly devours what is left of the hellish landscape that has haunted survivors. Now, in a race to escape the enveloping blackness. The few remaining people must reach the culmination of this apocalyptic event and face an unknown entity that stands in the way of what could be a new beginning for human kind.

THE KING OF PAIN KNOWS HORROR. I honestly think that I haven't read anything quite this compelling since reading The Stand by Stephen King. This is one of those stories that completely consumes the reader with an unrelenting sense of dread. I was enthralled from beginning to end and I'm not just talking about this book, I'm talking about the entire series. John F.D. Taff, "The King of Pain", delivers unimaginable horrors with a small glimmer of hope for humanity. I got this weird sense of enlightenment from the concept and then this stab of realization that really shook me to my core. Overall, this book is a lot more thrilling and emotional then the other books in the series and readers can expect to feel very satisfied with the ending.

This might be the concluding story but I have the feeling it doesn't end here for this series. Recently, Taff hinted at the prospect of yet another book and recently released a prequel novella called Blood and Brimstone. There is also an RPG in development where you get to choose the fate of your characters in the nightmare world of The Fearing which sounds amazing!

WE ARE NOT WORTHY. I am going to have a hard time recovering from this reading hangover because John Taff wrecked me in the best possible way. The Fearing is going to be something I recommend for a long, long time. There is just so much here for reader's to enjoy. I truely believe Taff is one of those authors that people are going to be talking about for years to come and I am incredibly thankful that I got the opportunity to discover his work.
