My first experience of Neil Gaiman, this was an interesting mix of children's and adults fiction. At times it felt like it was longer than it needed to be, and trying to be more profound than it actually succeeded in being. Parts of it reminded me of Max Porter's Lanny in its other worldly power imaginings, and I was invested in the two main characters, so overall an enjoyable read.
