Shadow Jumper by J.M. Forster was a great middle grade adventure that I think took serious topics and displayed them in an easy to understand manner. While this book didn’t have as much drive for older readers (actually it’s rapid pacing almost felt overwhelming), I think for the middle grade audience, it keeps the pace moving to keep them interested until the end. I feel like there were a lot of moving parts in this novel, and everything felt incredibly convenient (characters didn’t have to work much to get to where they were going) but it was a good story about changing perceptions and a great lesson in looking at the other side of a story before assuming anything. Overall, this was a short, fast, enjoyable read, perfect for any action-loving, do-good middle grade reader.
