I generally dislike when a worldview is being heavy-handedly hammered into the recipient, which is why I dislike this book, and why I dislike George Carlin. Having fond memories of Foucalt's pendulum I went in with great expectations, but unfortunately this book is based on the familiar but IMO overused trope that you should let 'love' trump anything else, and it's not even trying to nuance the concept of love, but simply assumes that infatuation is the same as love. Then it moves into the familiar territory of equating the church with repression of said 'love' without even stopping to ask why the church might do something like that. From Eco I expected a better and more nuanced treatment.
