How do I begin…. I really liked the story in this book, i was really fascinated that all of this happened but it apparently didn’t do so fully. According to the NYT and the Guardian who worked together with Auschwitz Memorial Organisations a lot of the information is either exaggerated or simply wrong. Before reading about that I had high opinion on the author, i still think they did a good job and i enjoyed the novel but i wouldn’t have enjoyed the novel less if instead of
2 crematoriums being blown up just one was lit on fire
It’s just about historical accuracy…. and these small details that are changed make me question which parts did actually happen and which were just fictional - this book had such a huge impact and consulting an expert in Auschwitz Organisation before publishing would have definitely been the better choice.
