Mirror Sight by Kristen Britain

3.0

I want to say that I enjoyed this book so much that I would recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy, but the truth is, it fell short of all its ancestors. I understand that a writer is often inspired in a big way by a visit to a museum or a exploration of a new time period. In this case, it was the textile mills in Lowell, Massachusetts. (And the subsequent textile factory heyday, its accomplishments, its tragedies). But I really wish that Kristen Britain didn't choose these characters to explore said time period. The novel was a disappointing departure from the world I fell in love with in book one--Green Rider--and continued to fall for in books 2-4. I wanted to be immersed in the world Karigan lived in, not solve a problem in a completely different world, where only one other character (technically two, I suppose, if you include Amberhill) from the previous books interacts with Karigan. I felt removed from the plot thread and found myself reading just to make sure she made it back to the Sacoridia I knew.
