Iris Kelly Doesn't Date
by Ashley Herring Blake
Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date is the 3rd and final book of Ashley Herring Blake’s Bright Falls Series, and it’s just as enjoyable, funny, and spicy as the rest of the books in this series.
We’re following Iris in this book and Stevie, the love interest, who’s dealing with awful chronic anxiety, to which I highly relate. I love the character work that the author did for these two; they couldn’t be any more different, but they just fit wonderfully together. I just wanted to quit beating around the bush and be together already!
Bright Falls is just as it was in the first two books, but I wish we got to spend more time in it. I feel like the setting was dominated by Stevie’s city (I totally forgot where), but I’m much more interested in the small town setting of it all. But the setting doesn’t really affect the story, which may be my gripe with it.
Anywho, the secondary characters were amazing. I love Stevie’s queer group of friends and I love the drama her ex brings to the table. I really like reading about their entire dynamic. Plus, Iris and the original gang. It was great catching up with them and seeing them interact with each other’s friend groups.
Stevie and Iris’s struggles were honestly a little hard to read through as a late twenties someone currently going through a mini quarter life crisis. But who isn’t, amirite?
I love the growth they went through on their own, and the growth with each other. They’re like what the other person needs exactly at that point in their life.
The ending was a bit rushed, imo, but overall this was a great book to close off the Bright Falls series. I highly recommend this entire series, especially the first book, Delilah Green Doesn’t Care.
