Crónica de Una Muerte Anunciada by Gabriel García Márquez
4.0

this was the first book that i've ever read fully in spanish, and i will say, i learned a lot of new words. i know this is something of both a commentary on pointless violence and a parody of a crime novel, but i honestly probably would need to read it again and for a longer period of time in order to study it more in depth as literature. it was a challenge for my language skills, but honestly, i can't think of a better book to get into as the first one. also lowkey parts of this book were much more graphic than i thought they would be. anyways cannot believe they did that to him. rip santiago nasar. anyways the prose was really beautiful, and i'm not sure if i should read this in english and compare or just re-read. it was a great read, though, and the deduction of stars really was more of a reflection on my lack of understanding than anything else. anyways 4.25 ⭐️.
