One word...MERMAIDS. This book was such a fantastic read. I was not expecting this kind of story, but oh how it pleased me to read. I thought the story was so interesting, and they took the whole mermaid thing and completely twisted everything you ever thought about them. I was so invested in this crew going on this journey and I feel like I got to know each of the characters. I was also curious as to what they would actually find. The story was pretty dark and twisty and that was A-okay with me. There were also several parts that had me on the edge of my seat. This story was extremely captivating.
I think Mira did a great job on the pacing of the story, and at keeping the anticipation of what happens next up. I know this is #1 in the Rolling in the Deep series, but I have heard nothing of a sequel. I really hope we can expect it soon.
Into the Drowning Deep was the first book I've read under Seanan McGuire's pen name Mira Grant. Now I'm interested to read other works under her Grant name. If you like mermaids in any form or fashion I highly recommend checking this book out.
