IMO this is the best book in the series. I love these characters in this book (they actually get annoying in other books, which I dislike because they are sooo good in this one). I’ve read some of the authors other work and I think this is likely her strongest book overall.

The one icky part is about how the female villain is talked about. She too was kidnapped by the MMC to be a companion and she hated it. She manipulated him over several years in order to escape, which from her pov is probably reasonable. There is some icky-ish sexual consent around this relationship (although I’m not sure who’s part it was icky on, in other books the author has the women basically “teach” the Duskwalker a what sex is and many of the scenes imo have consent issues. I think that this is another instance of that. Ie it seems to be implied the female villain was in the wrong? Idk it’s a little icky). About half of this authors books have non-con or semi non-con. The villain is also villainized because she just “wasn’t nice” and “didn’t understand the MMC”.
