Never Too Late by H.L Day

Usually in second chance stories, we have two MCs who are in a relationship, one of them is unsatisfied, there's the third act break up and then the last few chapters when one of them makes amends and then there's the HEA.
Here, the story begins with the break up and I loved this unusual start!
Finn and Cillian have been dating for 6 months and Finn has reached his breaking point: he's tired to always come second to Cillian, who's completely devoted to his job (no dinners, no evenings, no weekends pass by without them being interrupted by a phone call) and he sadly realises that their relationship is nothing more than a hookup arrangements.
So Finn decides to accept a job in Paris and leaves. After a couple of months a devastated Cillian knock on Finn's door asking for a second chance.

I liked very much all their conversation, when they finally were open and honest with each other and talked about what went wrong: Cillian was genuinely shocked and upset when he realised that he'd been an awful boyfriend and that he took Finn for granted. I liked that Finn awknowledged his own responsibility too and I particularly appreciated that Cillian didn't have all the answers, that he didn't make all their problems magically disapper and that Finn took his time and hesitate before agreeing to try again.

What prevented me from giving a higher rate:
The part when they're actually able to make things work seemed a little flat compared to the most part of the book when the emotions and the feelings are more intense and strong.

The epilogue is sweet and I look forward for Laurent to have his own book too.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review
