Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

5.0

This book is quite simply a masterpiece of 80s pop / geek / nerd culture wrapped inside a sci-fi infused mid-21st century failed world economy. Anyone born in the 70s needs to read this book. Preferably those born in 1973, like me. Preferably those who played, liked, remember, or otherwise lived the following: 80s movies (e.g. Monty Python and Ferris Bueller's Day Off); 80s video games (think Zork, arcade games, early console and early PC games); 80s music; 80s fantasy role-playing games. If you're still living this life (even in the more modern 90s, 2000s, or 2010s eras) then this book will still suit your sci-fi future fantasy. Absolutely loved this book, which had me literally, LOL'ing on the bus, train, and everywhere else I was reading this book. Home run, Mr. Cline! Now to go rent Fanboys and see what else came out of this guy's brain.
