The Hate U Give
by Angie Thomas
This book is a gut wrenching, honest and excellent read. It sheds light on some shameful aspects of our society. It is frustrating, hopeful, truthful, tragic and infuriating all at the same time. I loved the complexity of the characters and the situations that they encountered.
If you are craving the answer to some of the one-dimensional reads out there and want something that prompts you to re-examine our urban environments and aspects that divide our society, pick up this book.
Hailing from Chicago, I couldn't help but think...how many times has a scenario similar to this book happened in recent years.
