I found the story a compelling one, of a Bristol trader aiming to move up in the world, what he does to get there and how firm the ground is underneath him. The main character is his wife Frances, who is the voice of status quo.
I found the story to be a mediation on who gets to be innocent and ignorant, and what the consequences are of maintaining that ignorance.
The narration by Adjoa Andoh was excellent. There are different voices for different characters.
