Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott

So, THAT COVER. How could you not cover buy that 100x over? Thankfully Shelf Love Crate sent this copy in their December box, so I've been shamelessly using it as photo props on Instagram. UNTIL I needed a break in fantasy and then I leapt between the covers and hunkered down.
This book is sweet. 'Nough said.
The biggest complaint I see is that it's too straightforward or not like A Fault in Our Stars, but personally I missed the AFIOS train until all the spoilers had ruined most of the feels for me, so when I read it, it was sweet but not tear-jerky.
But here's what I enjoyed about it:
* I didn't know a thing about cystic fibrosis and now I have a small window into what a disease like that looks like to live out. Wow. I am so grateful for this book for that enlightenment.
* I came to care about the characters, dang it! No, the writing and plot didn't blow my mind but that didn't stop me from worrying over this bunch of characters.
* It's not a typical contemporary love story. It may start that way but CF sure can't let them follow the natural path a normal couple would!
* The chapters were a nice length so I felt like Goodreads was eating my dust!
For the sheer eye-opener it was for me about CF, I'd say this is a 5 star contemporary. Worth the read!
