Books like this were written for me.

So: about one afternoon, after school. The bell rings and the middle school students leave, for their real lives outside of school.

Each chapter is about a different group of students, a different story. What connects them is their school. Sometimes, there is overlap; but not always. Sometimes, in stories like these, the narrative is one long tale, told by different folks, and its about getting to know folks both from how they see and how they are seen, as well as telling one story.

Here, each story stands alone. I can easily see a teacher reading just one of these to a class (though why stop at one?); or a librarian using it with any type of group where you are reading aloud to a bunch of folks and the same folks may not be around for the next reading.

That said, you do get to see multiple perspectives and I have to say, I had two favorites. The first was "the reason why the bullies are bullies" stories, and the second was the girl with the skateboard.
