The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi
4.0
Nice and snappy science fiction. It genuinely made me laugh more times than I think it had any right to. I think some of the cons I had with the book were more based on my own reading preferences like:
- there were no descriptions. of anything. there were environmental descriptions sure, but the kaiju and even most of the characters themselves were left up to the imagination. some people might like/prefer that, but i found myself getting a bit tired having to mentally fill in the blanks for everything.
Beyond that and some other things I don't remember as I've already returned my copy to the library, it was a fun and refreshing read from the stuff I usually read, and the author's note in the very back really made me appreciate it that much more.
