Seven Summer Nights by Harper Fox

What the heck happened? I was SO sure I'd absolutely love this book when I started it ... engaging and complex MCs, interesting setting, a well written storyline ... but it all fell apart for me. I struggled with the "conversation" ... as well done as it was, the two MCs never seemed to stop talking and that started to affect the chemistry (which mostly happens non-verbally) and started getting boring (as well as convoluted). There are a boatload of characters in this book, and while I managed to keep everyone straight ... the storyline became so complicated and exhausting ... I wish the author stuck to something simpler instead of trying to cram in post-war, paranormal, small town, archeology/history, grography/geology, gender etc. It was too much really ... weighed down the story to the point that I had trouble finishing this. There were definitely moments of stunning brilliance ... however, the story seemed to get away from the author towards the end and the unfortunate casualty was the chemistry between the MCs ... so sad ...
