All frosting, no cake. You can't eat fluffy sugar for 250 pages. This book couldn't seem to hold on to what it wanted to be.

This book is... not good. Readers seem to love it (4.5+ average on Goodreads). For an author who is versed in Norse and Viking lore... it's disappointing that she turned Angraboda into a powerless woman playing house with Loki. Any character growth feels forced and unnatural. The dialog is BAD. The mix of classical and (very) modern speech is probably intentional but comes off as lazy or just a real poor decision. The anachronistic banter is incessant. Lots of potential, poorly executed.
