⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. This is a super intricate fantasy story - like, I had to really focus to pay attention or I was lost. Kane wakes up after an accident in which he drove his car into an old mill, the mill ignited, and the car exploded. Allegedly. Without any memory of the accident or much of his life prior, Kane searches for clues about what happened and who he really is. He discovers that he is part of a group called the Others, whose job is to keep reveries under control. What are reveries? Basically, subconscious thoughts kind of like dreams but not really dreams that can come to life when they are near etherea, or magic string things (I know, I am SO GOOD at describing fantasy, aren’t I?). Kane learns how his “accident” happened, and why, and what he must do now. Recommended for fantasy fans in grades 8+.
