The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney
2.0

I remember being mesmerized by this book when I first read it (around 7-8th grade), but rereading as an adult I’m disappointed. Janie is an incredibly annoying character, and I felt like her personality (as well as her friends’) were incredibly one note. Sarah-Charolette only cared about boys, Reeve only cared about sex, and Janie only cared about New Jersey. I felt like the (SPOILER) cult aspect was weirdly thrown in, and think that there could have been a better explanation for what happened with Hannah. Her parents were also very one note, and I didn’t find anything about the story or the characters to be memorable. Like I said, the oversimplification and caricature of each character in the story to really ruin the book.
