This book is definitely a "story of our time," and reading it made me very uncomfortable at times. However, that was clearly the point the author was trying to make. Set in Philadelphia, this book explores the relationships between well-to-do white people and the Black people who work for them...and many other race related issues. Everyone in the book is supposedly "well-meaning," and I definitely do not think the main white characters would be described as "racist," but the author does a great job of writing about implicit bias, all while telling a great story that definitely makes one think. The ending was also a little open-ended, and the last sentence really made me wonder....
