Confessions by Kanae Minato

4.0

3.5 stars -- i think the writing style of Kanae Minato is quite decisive; i personally liked it, but i can also see where someone wouldn't. the story is told in pieces here and there -- from the bat we're introduced to a crime that has happened and a mother that is suffering as a result. the facts are laid out very clearly: she has been wronged, and she will take back what she deserves (aka, her revenge). this straightforward introduction combined with the hopping perspectives to slowly reveal the plot in its entirety adds to the overall suspense of the novel, but on the flip side also creates a sense of repetitiveness that had me skimming through the late-middle parts of the book to get to the end. overall a really interesting plot and a great job done exploring it.
