The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot

5.0

Read this first as a late teen (about 2005 or 2006 I think) - it then being just one of two books that had made me cry (the other - less highbrow - was The Guns of Naverone). Recently picked TMOTF back up again and was initially bored, but eventually hooked and again in awe of Eliot's psychological insight, wisdom, style, and general storytelling prowess. IMO one of - possibly the - greatest English language novelist.
