I have to admit, when I read some reviews that this retelling didn’t really follow the original mythology, I was kind of disappointed but I was surprised on how much I actually liked political system Katee Robert created. It adds a new perspective and it’s a fun way to reimagine the “gods”.
As for the characters and the spicy bits... it was meh. Like the scenes were hot and Persephone and Hades were cute but it definitely had that “insta-love” feel and some of the sex scenes can definitely feel like they’re for specific people. Very much, if you’re not into the public sex kink, you might be super into those moments.
I’m rating this a 2.5 because while I thought the reimagined political system in Olympus was fun, the characters didn’t do much for me and the spicy parts felt tailored to those who actually appreciate the kink.
