There were parts about this book I loved and parts that I felt dragged along and didn't add to Tembi's story for me.
This story is not in chronological order, normally I love this in a thriller because it adds to the story, in a memoir I felt that it made it harder to connect to her and Saro's relationship. That being said I've never been in Tembi's shoes and pray I never am!
She was very lyrical in her writing and while I appreciate she is selling her story, I would have preferred it to be more real, I felt that this isn't truly how most people speak on their inner thoughts, but I could be wrong.
Tembi did make me feel her and Saro's love, she made me feel their loss, the chapter of his death honestly broke me, I was a mess.
They seem like they had a beautiful life, a tragic death and now Tembi and her daughter have a life of healing and living left to do.
I do recommend reading this story, while there were things I didn't love, I did love the story. It was beautiful.
Oh and it made me hungry, all of the food, even foods I don't tend to like had my mouth watering!
The recipes in the back seem complicated and I can't wait to make one!
