Starting to think that Alex Michaelides is a one-hit wonder for me.
As with all his books, the premise sounded pretty promising! But alas, the actual plot was disappointing. I found all the characters a little flat and uninteresting, and the framing/writing was overdone and self-indulgent. And though I didn't puzzle out *exactly* what was going on on the island, I did find the villain reveal a bit obvious and the ending just made me roll my eyes.
It was just all-around underwhelming for me, and didn't stand out at all in a sea of thrillers. Read "The Silent Patient," but don't bother with the rest of his catalogue (so far!).
